Frantoio

The Frantoio olive varietal originates from Italy. Characterized by its small, glossy dark purple to black skin and distinctive aroma this is both fruity and herbaceous. This varietal contributes a robust and peppery flavor profile, making it a sought-after choice for those who appreciate bold olive oil.

Leccino

Leccino olives are a remarkable variety originating in the sun-drenched groves of Tuscany, Italy. Recognized for its medium-sized, purplish-black olives, the Leccino variety offers a balance of flavors, a mild and fruity taste with hints of grassiness and a gentle, peppery finish.

Taggiasca

Taggiasca olives, originate from the Ligurian region of Italy, they are a distinctive and cherished olive variety with unique characteristics. They are small in size and are an elegant dark purple to reddish-brown in color. Taggiasca olives are renowned for their rich, fruity flavor profile.

Moraiolo

Moraiolo olives are indigenous to Tuscany, Italy. They are small to medium in size and purplish-black in color. They are revered for the superior oil they produce. Their flavor profile features intense fruity notes accompanied by distinct hints of artichoke with a peppery finish.

Pendolino

The Pendolino olive varietal originates from Tuscany and central Italy. These small oval olives boast a mild and fruity flavor profile. Also known for its high olive content, Pendolino olives offer a subtle complexity with notes of almond and a hint of a peppery finish.

Mission

Mission olives were brought to California by Spanish missionaries. Known for their plump, oval shape and dark purple to black hues, Mission olives produce an oil with a well-balanced, medium bodied flavor profile. This varietal adds fruity notes with a subtle peppery finish to our olive oil.

Cerignola

Cerignola olives are named after the town of Cerignola in the Puglia region of Italy. They are the largest varietal of olives and are known for their meaty texture and mild, slightly sweet flavor. They can be used for cooking or as table olives.

Here amidst the silvery leaves and gnarled branches of our olive trees, we cultivate a diverse range of Spanish and Italian varietals, each contributing its unique flavor profile to the Phelan Ranch olive oil.
